Solutions to help you or a loved one with memory loss issues
As mentioned in the introduction to this Blog, I will cover some easy-to-set-up solutions for memory loss issues you or an elderly relative may be experiencing.
“The solutions are geared towards helping those with visual impairment, hearing loss, dexterity issues, or persons with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).”
Confusion about the time of day
If your retirement daily routine is like mine and looks pretty much the same EVERY day, it’s easy to forget what day of the week it is! I always feel more “grounded” when I glance at my “Day-Date” clock on an old iPad.
All it takes to set this up is an old iPad supporting iPadOS 14 or later and installing a free Apple iPad app I recently wrote. In addition to a large display, tapping the screen will cause the iPad to speak the time and date for the visually impaired.
This display may be helpful to a family member who is suffering from mild cognitive impairment as it displays:
· Name of the day
· Part of the day (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night)
· Time with AM/PM in BIG NUMBERS
· Date (including the year) --- some people need this
You can touch the screen anywhere to have this information spoken aloud.
