Here is the first solution:
My son was looking for an easy solution to control bedside lamps, but he didn’t want to use a smartphone app or voice assistant.
Simple Bedside Lamp Control
Here is an easy way to control your bedside or chairside lighting without reaching a lamp-mounted switch.
This solution requires replacing the light bulb and using a battery-operated control on the side table.
Check the video below to see how easy it is to screw in a new light bulb and pair it with the switch.
If a wall switch also controlled the bedside lamp, you could install a magnetic cover over that wall switch to prevent unintentional power off as the Bluetooth bulb will always need to be connected to power… even when it’s off.
This solution uses a Bluetooth bulb and a Bluetooth switch and does NOT require a smartphone app, hub, Wi-Fi, or even an Internet connection!
Here is the YouTube video showing how easy it is to set up and use. It sure beats reaching over and trying to twist a knob on a bedside lamp, especially in the middle of the night.

In future newsletters, I will cover more advanced solutions such as simple home automation requiring smartphone apps, Wi-Fi, and Internet access. Still, I will try to simplify them by providing sample Alexa Routines, iPhone Shortcuts, and HomeKit automation that you can download and modify to meet your needs.
Here is a teaser… An upcoming newsletter will contain a solution for you or a family member who may be a bit groggy on nocturnal visits to the bathroom. It’s a super-simple solution with no smartphone app, hub, Wi-Fi, or Internet required and can provide “pathway guidance” rather than the typical motion sensor lights that you must “step into” to turn on the next light along your pathway.
