The Problem:
Your parent has become forgetful about mealtimes and could use a dedicated reminder device that speaks to them. The usual iPhone/iPad notification apps require the device always to be nearby.
Solution #1:
A YoLink SpeakerHub provides a simple means to announce reminders of your choosing at times of your choosing using automations, as shown below.
You can choose the message to be spoken and alert sounds. You can even make changes remotely by logging into their YoLink account or adding their home to your YoLink account
Set up:
· Add the SpeakerHub to your parent’s 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network following the YoLink instructions.
o If Wi-Fi is not available, you could add a YoLink Hub 3, which provides an LTE connection at $6.99/month
Solution #2:
An Amazon Echo Dot provides a simple means to speak daily reminders. This device requires no manual automation creation as you can create the reminders by speaking.
For example, “Alexa, create a reminder Time for Lunch every day at 12 PM
The reminders can be repeated or require verbal confirmation using the Alexa app. Confirmations require leaving the microphone enabled.
In the Alexa app, just tap Reminders and the “Gear”
If Wi-Fi is unavailable, you could use a Cudy LTE Router with a SIM from your mobile phone carrier.
